According to the ‘Cruise Industry News’ the North German port of Rostock/Warnemunde is expecting up to  190 vessel calls in the following  Cruise Season.

Iranian Containership ‘MV SEVGI’ makes first call in Hamburg

On May 17, the Iranian Container ship, the MV SEVGI made its first call to Hamburg port, part of IRISL’s new general cargo service, which will call monthly at Hamburg as the only port in Germany, transporting conventional general cargo in addition to containers.

The maritime fleet of the Iran’s national shipping company -IRISL Group- comprises 115 ocean-going vessels, with the total capacity of 3.3 million tons deadweight/DWT.

The stranded Container Cargo ship in the River Elbe, which grounded on the 4th of February, the MV ‘CSCL  Indian Ocean’ has now been refloated and is presently undergoing under-water inspection in Hamburg for possible damage.

Container Cargo ship  ‘CSCL  Indian Ocean’ grounded
The stranded Container Cargo ship in the River Elbe, which grounded on the 4th of February, is the MV ‘CSCL  Indian Ocean’ – a 400 meter long  containership owned by ‘China Shipping Group Co’.

The grounding of this very large  containership has caused backup, congestion and delays of the very busy shipping traffic on the Elbe river. The delays are creating logistical delays and head-aches for suppliers and importers.
